In Ontario, school repairs have been an issue since at least 2005, largely an ad hoc affair involving parents at individual schools, local school boards, and maintenance unions. In 2014 these groups joined together to support a province-wide parent-led initiative named “Fix Our Schools”.
FOS was started by parents at a single school who recognized that the problem of school building poor state-of-repairs was not limited to their one school. FOS is a good example of how to keep the issue in front of the public and place pressure on governments to increase school infrastructure upgrade funding.
